QNED TV FAQs

What is a QNED TV?

QNED TVs are often confused for standard QLED TVs, but for good reason, as the two operate very similarly. QNED TVs, much like QLED TVs, make use of a special quantum dot layer, packed full of semiconductors that are capable of rendering billions of specific colours, these colours are then illuminated thanks to a special backlight array. What differentiates QNED TVs from QLED TVs is the inclusion of a NanoCell layer.

The NanoCell layer of a QNED TV is specifically designed to absorb and eliminate excess light from the backlight. This helps to enhance on-screen contrast. Many QNED TVs also include Mini LED backlights for more precise brightness!

Are QNED TVs better than QLED TVs?

In many ways, QNED TVs are an evolution of standard QLED TVs, with a number of distinct benefits. Most importantly, QNED TVs include a NanoCell layer that preserves the quality of the on-screen image. This layer filters out excess light from the backlights, which in turn keeps light bloom from ruining the contrast in any image.

QNED TVs also often use mini LED backlights. Mini LEDS are special because it’s possible to pack thousands more of them into the TV itself. Mini LEDS can also independently control exactly how much light they emit. Again, this is beneficial for visual contrast!

How long do QNED TVs last?

QNED TVs can easily last up to 10 years. To help one to last that long, however, you’d need to take care of it. One of the best ways to care for your QNED TV is to vastly reduce the screen brightness. This puts less of a strain on the mini LEDs, which means they’re at less of a risk of degrading over time.

Where you put a QNED TV also plays a role in determining its lifespan. To help a QNED TV to last longer, you’ll want to make sure it’s securely positioned. For instance, if it’s on a TV stand, make sure it’s not at risk of falling off! If you’re planning to wall mount a QNED TV, make sure the wall is ready to bear the weight of the screen.

Which brands make QNED TVS?

QNED TVs are actually made exclusively by LG. LG QNED TVs actually make use of proprietary LG technology, such as NanoCell layers. These proprietary technologies help to elevate QNED TVs well above standard QLED TVs.

If you’re looking for a TV that delivers realistic colour and striking contrast, then a QNED model might be the perfect one for you.
