Are standing desks actually healthy?
Standing desks are actually very beneficial for your overall health. For one thing, it improves circulation across your body. This helps to keep you from tiring out during the day, and also keeps your mind sharp, so you’re more productive!
Of course, standing for too long can put a strain on your back and legs, so you’ll still need to take plenty of breaks to sit down and allow your muscles to relax.
Standing desks are fantastic for those who have to move around a lot with work. If your work requires you to be at your desk for most of the day, then you may be better off with a sit stand desk, which can switch between sitting and seated positions.
How long should you stand at a standing desk?
We would recommend standing at a standing desk for no longer than 30 minutes at a time. Standing for prolonged periods can put a significant strain on your back and legs, so you’ll want to make sure to take plenty of breaks.
We recommend stepping away from your standing desk every half hour for a few minutes. You can use this break to walk around, take a seat, or even brew a fresh cup of tea. Whatever helps to give your legs and back some respite!
If you can’t afford to step away from your desk every half hour, we would recommend purchasing a sit-stand desk that can be adjusted to a seated or standing position whenever you want.

How to stand correctly at a standing desk?
The optimal posture for standing at a standing desk is actually quite similar to the optimal sitting posture. You’ll want to make sure that the desk is at just the right height to suit your own posture. This ensures you don’t have to reach up or crouch down just to reach the keyboard. You should be able to relax your neck and shoulders as you work, allowing your elbows to bend at a 90-degree angle.
To further prevent strain on your neck, you should make sure your computer monitor is around eye level, so you can maintain a neutral posture.
Try to stand upright as much as possible, and make sure both feet are firmly on the floor. This keeps your weight balanced and keeps either side of your body from aching!
