Office Desk FAQs

Where should you place a desk at home?

This will depend on the size of your desk, and the kind of view you want! Of course, you’ll first need to make sure there’s enough space in your chosen room to accommodate your desk. There’s nothing worse than a cramped office space!

You’ll also want to think about the view from your desk. Many people opt to place their desks up against a window, to enjoy an outside view throughout the working day. This helps to improve your mood during the work day, but you’ll want to make sure the sun isn’t shining directly in your eyes! If you want to stay free of distractions, then it might be worth placing your desk up against a wall.

Just make sure you have access to plug sockets to charge your electronics! It’s best to have your desk as close to a power supply as possible, to prevent tangled cables!

What is the best type of office desk?

There are a few different types of office desk, but choosing the right one for you will depend on your individual needs. If you’re looking to create a simple workspace then a standard rectangular desk may be right for you!

If you want to spread out, and you have sufficient space for it, then a corner desk may be a perfect option. They offer a wide work surface, and they’re fantastic for building more unconventional office spaces.

Standing desks are also incredibly popular. These can be lifted and lowered to allow you to work while standing or seated. Changing between seated and standing positions during the day keeps your muscles from aching, and it also improves blood circulation. So you’ll enjoy enhanced productivity and a happier mood!

What size desk do you need?

You’ll want to make sure the size of your desk adequately suits your needs. Be sure to consider the kind of work you do, and the kinds of tools and devices you need close at hand. For instance, if you’re often flicking through countless piles of documents, it’s worth looking for a larger desk size.

If your work only requires minimal equipment, such as a laptop, or you’re often moving around for your work, then you might be well served by a smaller desk at a lower cost.

Finally, make sure to also consider how much space you have available in your chosen room. You’ll want to make sure your desk isn’t too big, and that there’s still space to move around!

How high should a desk be?

Your desk should be at a height that suits your posture. When a desk is too high or too low, it can be uncomfortable to work at, as you’ll have to strain yourself to get work done.

Preferably, your desk should be at a height that allows you to completely relax your neck and shoulders, with your elbow bent at a 90-degree angle. This keeps your body from aching, which also improves your mood as you work!

To find the right desk height, you’ll need to consider your own height! Luckily, there’s a handy sum that can help you to work out the optimal desk height. Simply take your height in inches, and then add 1. The resulting sum is your optimal desk height in centimetres!
