Washer Dryer FAQs

Do washer dryers cost a lot to run?

No two washer dryers are ever built the same. As such, the amount that a model might cost to run can vary massively. On average, a washer dryer will consume around 1.5 kWh for a washing cycle, and around 4.5 kWh for a drying cycle. If you were to run both cycles concurrently, then the appliance will cost a little more to operate.

However, if you have a more energy efficient washer dryer, such as an “A” rated model, it would cost less to operate, because it would use less electricity.

Do washer dryers need a vent?

Not all washer dryers need a vent. Whether or not your washer dryer needs a vent depends on the type of model it is. A vented dryer, for instance, does need to be connected to some kind of vent, to dispose of the moisture withdrawn from your laundry.

Other types of dryers, such as condenser dryers do not need to be connected to a vent. These dryers instead make use of a reservoir where the moisture from laundry is deposited. It's up to the user to remove and drain this reservoir between each cycle!

What are the benefits of washer dryers?

One of the biggest benefits of a washer dryer is its all-in-one design. With a standard washing machine and dryer, you would need to dedicate space within your home for both appliances. With a washer dryer, the function of both a washing machine and dryer is packed into one appliance. So, you would only need to find space for a single appliance.

A washer dryer can also help you to save plenty of time, as you won’t need to move your laundry between two appliances to have it washed and dried. Instead, with a washer dryer, you can have your laundry fully washed and dried without having to intervene!

What are the best washer dryer brands?

The washer dryer market is defined by choice. There are all manner of brands to choose from. Easily one of the best washer dryer brands is Samsung. Samsung washer dryers are incredibly high quality and come with a range of unique smart features. For instance, many Samsung washer dryers can connect directly to the SmartThings app, from which you can control the appliance entirely on your phone.

LG Electronics is also a very popular brand within the world of washer dryers. LG washer dryers are equipped with a massive number of cycle types to choose from, so you can easily wash a massive variety of fabrics with no trouble at all!
