Because they’re so small, it’s possible to pack thousands more of them into the backlight array. These miniature LEDs can then adjust the amount of light they emit, independently. This allows for images with stronger contrast.
Are LED TVs better than LCD TVs?
LCD TVs have largely been usurped by LED TVS and other popular display types. Part of the reason for this is that LCD TVs are incredibly inefficient. LCD TVs make use of a liquid crystal display that creates images. Liquid crystal displays are incredibly energy hungry, so they come with a much heavier overall cost.
