Soundbar FAQs

What is Dolby Atmos?

Dolby Atmos is a premium sound format that brings out the best in your content’s audio.

Not only does Dolby Atmos deliver crystal clear audio, with more vibrant music and clearer character dialogue, but it also fills your living room with sound. It’s designed to open up the potential of your TV and its sound system, to allow audio to reach every corner of the room and to surround you from all directions.

Dolby Atmos audio sounds particularly fantastic when played through a powerful soundbar. It allows any soundbar to make use of every one of its built-in audio channels.

Does a soundbar make a difference?

Installing a soundbar as part of your entertainment can absolutely make a marked difference!

First of all, a soundbar can easily optimise the audio of your content. If your TV is fitted with a set of relatively subpar speakers, then a soundbar can help to improve the way your content sounds. This leads to a greater sense of immersion in your favourite films and shows.

Installing a soundbar also has a significant and positive impact on your living room. With a soundbar, you can enjoy a surround sound experience, without needing to spend plenty of time and money on an expensive and complex surround sound system.

What is an all-in-one Soundbar?

The term “All-in-one” is often quite confusing when used to refer to a soundbar. An all-in-one soundbar is simply a regular soundbar.

“All-in-one” is a term that is often interchangeably attached to the name of a soundbar, to communicate how it works. Soundbars are distinct from other premium sound systems because all of the technology you need is packed into one single soundbar.

A traditional surround sound system, on the other hand, is actually made up of a network of individual speakers that need to be purposefully arranged around your room. Within a soundbar, all of the individual speakers, or “Sound channels”, are packed “All-in-one” into the soundbar itself.

What do soundbar channel numbers mean?

When a soundbar refers to “Channels”, it’s referring to the number of individual speakers packed into the soundbar itself.

Traditional sound systems are most often made up of numerous individual speakers that you arrange around your living room. A Soundbar, instead, packs all of these speakers into a single device that you place under or above your TV.

The more channels that a soundbar model has, the more speakers are packed into it. A soundbar with a higher number of channels will often be much louder, and may have greater audio fidelity. A soundbar with fewer audio channels may be a little quieter, and will also have a smaller form factor.
