Styling Small Spaces: TVs for Small Rooms

Televisions are always getting bigger and bigger, allowing for greater immersion in our favourite movies and TV shows. However, with larger TVs comes the need for larger spaces to accommodate their greater size, but not all of us have the luxury of mansion-sized rooms that can accommodate huge entertainment systems.

At Reliant, we know how difficult it can be to find a TV of the perfect size for a particular space. So we’ve put together this handy guide to help you not only find the perfect TV for smaller spaces but also to show you how to organize those spaces around your new screen! Let’s jump right in!

Small Room TV Ideas

As the centrepiece of a room, a TV can really help to draw the eye and create a really distinct sense of ‘Space’ even within the smallest of rooms. As a central focal point, the TV can draw attention to the rest of your décor, so make sure to take advantage of this. Decorate your space as you see fit, and organize the furniture and other decorations with the TV as the centrepiece. If you want to really wow with your TV, then make sure to consider a 4K TV or 8K TV for maximum image quality!

Angle your furniture just right, and you can turn a cramped room into a cosy nook where you can curl up and watch your favourite TV box sets! We totally recommend installing some warm lighting, such as lamps, to help create a chilled-out environment where you can unwind after a long day.

Another way to make the most of a small space is to carefully consider how you will display the TV. Maybe you’ll want to place the TV onto a simple TV bench, or maybe you’ll want to attach the TV to the wall with a mounting bracket. No matter how you choose to display your TV, make sure to consider the overall space of the room!

If you had enough space, you could even install a TV cabinet, where you can not only keep the TV, but also associated accessories, such as a DVD collection, or even various games consoles. This helps to make the most of a single wall, allowing you to make the most of the rest of the room space.

A TV can make a space feel just right, but you need to make sure it’s positioned correctly, place it on top of a cabinet, within a TV unit, or fixed to the wall. Organize your furniture accordingly!

Small Bedroom With TV

Having a TV in the bedroom can be a great idea if you want to really kick back and relax, allowing you to recline on your bed and binge-watch TV to your heart’s content. The only problem is, if you have a very small bedroom, you will need to carefully consider the size and placement of your television.

First, you are going to want to make sure that your bedroom has enough space to accommodate your television. Will the TV be able to fit parallel to a wall? Will you be able to place it safely atop a cabinet? These are questions you are going to want to ask yourself. Don’t forget that much of the bedroom space will of course be taken up by the bed, so you will want to make sure to grab a TV that doesn’t make the bedroom feel cramped!

And when it comes to the bed, you will need to make sure to consider whether there is enough space between your favourite spot in the bed and the TV screen! Don’t forget that larger TVs will require you to sit further from the screen to take everything in. For example, a 60 inch TV would require you to be around 5 to 7.5 feet away to take it all in!

Small Living Room Ideas With A TV

Finding the right TV for a smaller living room requires a little more work. Not only do you have to make sure that the TV screen fits into the space, but also that all of the furniture has enough space of its own!

If you are truly pressed for space within a living room, then we strongly recommend fixing your TV to the wall with a mounting bracket, as this will allow you to make the most of the floor space below it. However, when you make use of a mounting bracket, make sure to consider the size and model of the TV. Some TVs, such as a 98 inch tv model, may be too heavy to mount using a traditional bracket. Specific models of TV also require the use of highly specific brackets.

If you are planning on mounting your TV to a wall, you will want to make sure to carefully consider all of your wires, as well as various other devices that you might hook up to the screen. You don’t want to mount your new gaming TV to the wall, only to find there’s no space to hook it up to your favourite console!

Wherever you place your TV, make sure to carefully consider all of your various cables and plug-ins. Messy and unorganised cables can easily ruin the look of a beautiful TV display!

How To Organize Wires Around A TV Mounting Bracket

If mounting your TV to the wall, there are a number of ways you can organize the various wires to create a more discreet look for your space.

If you only have a few wires to wrangle up, then you can easily make use of cable ties, which can be used to keep the wires gathered together, and keep them from hanging limply beneath the screen, ruining the look of your wall. You can then tie these wires directly to the mounting bracket, to keep them hidden.

If you have a large bundle of wires to contend with, then we recommend grabbing some cable trunking, a plastic tube which can be used to discreetly gather up your wires, and lead them towards the necessary power source. If you have a white wall, make sure to go for some white trunking, to create an extra discreet arrangement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is A 32-Inch TV Too Small?

A 32-inch TV can easily be more than adequate, but it depends on what you need the TV for, and where it is situated. For instance, a 32-inch TV might be too small for a living room, as it would be too difficult to see when reclined on the sofa. A 32-inch TV would be better suited to a bedroom, where its size will keep it from taking up space!

Is A 50 Inch TV Too Big for A Small Room?

This largely depends on what you define as ‘Small’. A 50-inch TV would be too large if you were not only having trouble fitting it into the room but also finding a suitable place to watch it, without straining your neck, or otherwise causing yourself discomfort. Remember that positioning is key whenever it comes to TVs.

How Do You Tell If A TV Is Too Big for A Room?

If you’ve managed to get a large TV into a certain room, but you’re still unsure whether it is too large, then you will need to check and see if there is enough space between the screen and where you will sit and watch it. Certain TVs require a certain distance in order to take the entire image in.

Are TVs Becoming Obsolete?

Absolutely not. Though there are now more options for watching TV content, such as through a smartphone, laptop, or a tablet, TVs are still immensely popular and act as a perfect central hub for any home. TVs are also becoming more and more advanced, keeping up with the best smartphones on the market.
